This solution only applies to POP3 communications. It is not relevant for IMAP communications.

Key to the POP3 download behaviour is the 'Leave a copy of messages on the server' option in your eMail application. When it is checked, your application will never issue any command to modify the message status on the server.

Consequently, in this situation, IzyMail will not be notified to delete any messages or to mark them 'read'.

Disabling the 'Leave messages ...' option is certainly possible, but may have other -negative- side effects. It is generally recommended to keep it checked and to periodically clean up your account via the browser interface.

To make a long story short:

The POP3 protocol is simply not capable to do true message synchronization. Only the IMAP protocol -as implemented in IzyMail- can do that.
